Prepare Well Before Using A Floor Jack For Best Results

Buying a floor jack is not enough. You need to know to use this machine properly in order to get the best result without causing any accident or injury. And, for that purpose, you need to prepare well in advance before lifting the vehicle using this machine. You need to understand one fact that floor jacks are very heavy and you can’t expect to do any other work side-by-side while working with this device. This may cause accidents. Therefore, to get the best result using this device without causing any damage to yourself, it is important that you do a lot of preparations and safety checks. Here are few of the key safety checks that you should do:

1. Check if you have lifted the car properly and secured it using the jack stands
2. Check if your body is in right posture while working with the jack. This means you should be in comfortable attire that offers flexibility in moving as you may be required to move your body quite a lot while doing the repairs.
3. Wear protective clothes to do the work. Cover the exposed body parts well. Protect your eyes using the right glass, cover your hands using gloves, and have tough leather boots on your feet. You can also use ear cuffs to protect your ears.
4. Make sure the jack and stands you have chosen are appropriate one and capable of lifting the weight of your car

1. Check the rated capacity of the jack. Ideally, the jack should have a rating capacity not exceeding half of the gross weight of your car.

3. Always have all the items required to do the repair in place approachable to you
4. If using the jack for the first time, then ask someone expert in the area to supervise you
5. Do not forget to read the manual completely to locate the right lifting points of you vehicle. If you end up lifting the car using the wrong points, you may end up injuring yourself in the middle of the job.
6. Make sure the vehicle is standing firmly on the jack and is placed on a flat surface
